China and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s science body, COMSTECH, have discussed expanding cooperation in science, technology, and health during a meeting in Islamabad. The talks focused on strengthening collaboration and developing new initiatives for OIC member states.
COMSTECH Coordinator General Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary met Xu Hangtian, minister-counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, to review ongoing cooperation projects. Both sides discussed partnerships with universities and research institutions, as well as training programs for scientists and researchers from OIC countries.
The meeting also reviewed existing initiatives with Chinese institutions, including biomedical artificial intelligence training and academic exchanges. Officials further discussed plans for a COMSTECH-Zhejiang joint laboratory, a potential OIC-COMSTECH office in Beijing, and an upcoming visit by a 27-member Chinese delegation aimed at strengthening scientific collaboration
