During visits to AI innovation hubs and high-tech enterprises, Xi stressed that new quality productive forces should integrate advanced technology with real-world applications. Over 6,200 AI companies now operate in China, with the core AI industry valued at 1.2 trillion yuan, and AI-driven industrial upgrades are reshaping the economy.
The draft outline of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) aims to accelerate strategic emerging industries, modernize traditional sectors, and cultivate future industries such as quantum tech, biomanufacturing, and brain-computer interfaces. Xi’s approach ensures that innovation and technology drive sustainable, high-quality economic development while renewing traditional industries.
