China-ASEAN air travel growth showcases CAAC’s dedication to adopting new technologies.
Air routes between China and Southeast Asia recorded 19.62 million passenger trips in the first ten months of 2024, marking a 136.7 percent increase compared to the previous year, as shared at the 2024 New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor Forum on China-ASEAN Aviation Development held on Friday.
From January to October, cargo and mail transport on these routes reached a total of 363,000 tonnes, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 30.7 percent, according to Xiong Jie from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
Xiong emphasized the CAAC’s dedication to adopting advanced technologies and exploring opportunities in general aviation and the low-altitude economy. The aim is to develop the low-altitude economy into a significant growth driver for China and ASEAN nations.
The forum, attended by over 400 participants, including government officials, entrepreneurs, experts, and scholars from China and ASEAN countries, also saw the signing of nine project agreements.
