China has significantly advanced its healthcare services during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025). Primary-level medical visits now make up 52.6% of total national visits, and over 90% of urban and rural families can reach their nearest medical facility within 15 minutes.
Over 1.1 million medical institutions now operate with more than 16 million health workers, including 5.29 million physicians and 6.03 million nurses. Childcare subsidies support over 33 million families, totaling 10,800 yuan per child, while life expectancy has increased to 79.25 years.
Looking ahead, China’s 15th Five-Year Plan prioritizes expanding healthcare infrastructure, enhancing pediatric and mental health services, integrating telemedicine, strengthening emergency response, and supporting global health partnerships, including Belt and Road countries.
