First Lady Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari reaffirmed the importance of Pakistan-China cooperation, praising China’s leadership in renewable energy and highlighting Pakistan’s commitment to expanding collaboration in agriculture, culture, tourism, and education. She said both nations share a long-standing friendship built on trust, mutual respect, and shared progress, which continues to deepen through economic and cultural ties.
During a meeting with Ms Hao, President of the China-Asia-Africa Trade Promotion Office, at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Aseefa emphasised that Pakistan, being an agriculture-based economy, stands to benefit significantly from China’s modern agricultural technologies. She noted that advanced irrigation systems and water-saving methods could play a crucial role in enhancing Pakistan’s crop productivity and minimising resource wastage. Such initiatives, she added, reflect the growing potential of Pakistan-China cooperation in addressing key sustainability challenges.
Ms Hao informed the First Lady that next year will mark the 75th anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations, an important milestone to celebrate and strengthen bilateral ties. She said the anniversary provides an ideal opportunity to expand cooperation in cultural exchanges, student programs, and vocational training for farmers and youth. Ms Hao also extended an invitation to Aseefa Bhutto Zardari to visit China and sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalise new partnerships in these areas.
Senators Sherry Rehman and Saleem Mandviwalla were also present at the meeting. Both sides acknowledged that the enduring Pakistan-China cooperation plays a key role in promoting sustainable growth, innovation, and regional stability. The discussion underscored the shared vision of both countries for enhanced connectivity under ongoing development projects and for strengthening people-to-people linkages to foster mutual prosperity.
