Federal Tax Ombudsman’s Coordinator Saif Ur Rehman emphasised that China’s rapidly growing economy is delivering major economic benefits to Pakistan by accelerating industrial development, job creation, and regional connectivity.
Speaking at a roundtable conference on “Impact of China’s Growing Economy on Pakistan” in Lahore, he said that Chinese investments across manufacturing, agriculture, and technology sectors are not only creating thousands of employment opportunities but also transferring valuable technical know-how to Pakistan’s workforce.
Rehman noted that this collaboration is enhancing Pakistan’s export potential by improving logistics, boosting production efficiency, and expanding access to regional and global markets. China’s growing demand for Pakistani agricultural products, minerals, and textiles, he added, provides new avenues for export diversification and strengthens Pakistan’s external trade position.
Highlighting the transformative role of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he said the multibillion-dollar initiative has revolutionised infrastructure, energy, and transport systems, linking Gwadar Port with western China and beyond. This connectivity, he stated, positions Pakistan as a vital partner in China’s expanding global trade network.
He further remarked that China’s economic rise fosters regional stability and shared prosperity by deepening cooperation and promoting sustainable growth. As China’s economy continues to expand, Rehman said, Pakistan stands to gain even greater benefits from this long-standing and strategic partnership.
