Armenia and China have strengthened their bilateral relations through a new strategic partnership, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Tuesday. The agreement is expected to boost trade, investment, and infrastructure cooperation between the two nations, opening new opportunities for economic growth.
The partnership was first announced during a meeting between Pashinyan and Chinese President Xi Jinping on August 31 in Tianjin, ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2025. Officials described the agreement as a step toward deeper collaboration in regional connectivity and long-term development projects.
At the Orbeli Forum 2025 in Yerevan, Pashinyan compared Armenia’s Crossroads of Peace project with China’s Belt and Road Initiative. Both initiatives aim to enhance transport and trade networks across the region. “Our balanced foreign policy supports regional connectivity, and we are confident Armenia will become a crossroads of peace,” he said, highlighting the potential for closer cooperation between the two countries.
The Orbeli Forum, organized by the Armenian think tank Orbeli Center, brought together officials and experts from more than 10 countries. Participants discussed regional security, economic collaboration, and strategies for sustainable development. The event emphasized that Armenia-China cooperation can play a critical role in promoting stability and growth in the South Caucasus.
The strategic partnership will allow both countries to launch joint projects in trade, investment, and infrastructure. It also reinforces Armenia’s position as a central hub for regional connectivity, encouraging both private and public sector participation in future initiatives.I kept it slightly longer without making it overly wordy and ensured smooth flow.
