A 12-member delegation from Pakistan’s Gwadar concluded a five-day official visit to Hebei Province’s Caofeidian Free Trade Zone, with both sides agreeing to strengthen cooperation in ports, logistics, industrial parks, and technical training.
The delegation visited Caofeidian from July 15 to 19. It included representatives from the Gwadar Port Authority, the Balochistan Board of Investment and Trade, the Fisheries Department, and the Gwadar Development Authority.
Delegation Explores Port and Industrial Facilities
During the visit, the Pakistani delegation toured Caofeidian’s deep-water port, bonded warehouses, cross-border e-commerce hubs, and industrial parks.
In addition, members visited the city’s vocational education campus and a joint project with North China University of Science and Technology. The visits provided insights into industrial development, logistics, and workforce training.
Five Key Areas of Cooperation
Officials from both sides focused their discussions on five priority areas.
These included:
- Port-to-port shipping connectivity
- Free trade zone management
- Industrial park development
- Technical and vocational training
- A permanent communication mechanism
Furthermore, both sides agreed to strengthen institutional cooperation through regular exchanges and joint initiatives.
Officials Highlight Shared Opportunities
Senior officials from the Caofeidian economic zone welcomed the delegation and outlined the area’s industrial strengths and investment incentives.
During the meetings, Pakistani officials briefed their Chinese counterparts on Gwadar Port’s current operations, expansion plans, and its strategic role under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Sun Kongguang, Director of the Caofeidian Free Trade Zone Bureau, described the visit as a practical step toward connecting Gwadar’s strategic location with Caofeidian’s industrial capabilities.
Strengthening Future Collaboration
The delegation also visited bulk cargo terminals, digital supply chain facilities, and local tourism projects before departing for Islamabad via Beijing on July 19.
Moreover, both sides agreed to maintain regular communication through joint working groups and information-sharing mechanisms.
As a result, the visit is expected to promote stronger cooperation between Gwadar and Caofeidian in trade, logistics, industrial development, and technical capacity building.
