Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan. The two leaders reviewed bilateral relations, regional developments, and cooperation within multilateral forums.
Focus on Bilateral Cooperation
During the meeting, Dar and Wang held a warm and productive exchange of views on the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and China.
Moreover, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership and expanding cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
Regional Peace and Stability Discussed
Dar thanked Wang Yi for acknowledging Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to promote regional peace and stability.
He appreciated the Chinese foreign minister’s remarks during the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting, which recognized Pakistan’s constructive role in addressing regional challenges.
Furthermore, the two leaders exchanged views on regional developments and emphasized the importance of continued dialogue and coordination.
Cooperation Within the SCO
The ministers also discussed cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and other multilateral platforms.
They agreed to maintain close consultations and work together to promote regional connectivity, economic cooperation, and shared development through the SCO framework.
China Backs Pakistan’s SCO Chairmanship
During the meeting, Wang Yi conveyed China’s best wishes to Pakistan for its upcoming Chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State.
He also expressed confidence in Pakistan’s preparations to host the SCO Summit in 2027, describing it as an important opportunity to strengthen regional cooperation among member states.

The meeting reflected the continued momentum in Pakistan-China relations as both countries deepen cooperation in diplomacy, regional security, trade, and multilateral engagement.
