A Chinese delegation visited the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority Secretariat in Lahore to discuss a Pakistan-China digital skills and e-commerce training project for women.
The initiative, named Ban-Mo Academy, is planned at the Government College of Technology for Women, Lytton Road, Lahore. The project aims to provide training in cross-border e-commerce, digital skills, and vocational education.
Five-Party Partnership for Skills Development
The academy will operate under a five-party collaboration involving Shandong College of Electronic Technology, Lancmall, Punjab TEVTA, Government College of Technology for Women Lahore, and ITMC Technology Co Ltd.
The partnership aims to connect technical education with market-oriented digital training.
Focus on Women and Cross-Border E-Commerce
TEVTA Chairman Muhammad Sajid Khokhar chaired the meeting and said the project could create opportunities for broader cooperation in technical and vocational training.
According to UNI International Director Yasser Shakoor, the academy will offer short courses focused on digital and e-commerce skills aligned with the needs of Chinese companies operating in Pakistan.
Training, Equipment and Career Opportunities
Officials said the collaboration will extend beyond classroom learning. The project will include teacher training, modern equipment, updated curricula, and potential internship opportunities.
In addition, participating students may gain access to employment pathways in Chinese enterprises operating in Pakistan.
Classes Expected in Spring 2027
Project representatives stated that the centre is expected to be handed over to TEVTA later this year. Classes are planned to begin during the spring 2027 academic session.
Following the meeting, the delegation visited the Luban Workshop, Digital Silk Road Academy, and Meraki Hospitality Department at GTTI Gulberg in Lahore.
