The world’s first robot-manned hotel is scheduled to open soon. It will be located on the west artificial island of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link. This location is part of a massive infrastructure project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. According to a Monday report from the Xinhua News Agency, the establishment is already being dubbed “the world’s first robot-served hotel.”
Ecosystem of robots
Meanwhile, a Shenzhen-based company named Pudu Robotics is developing the technology for the project. The firm is also building a full-process robot service ecosystem. As a result, machines will handle everything from room service and luggage assistance to food delivery and cleaning. Furthermore, robots will take over security patrols and even offer interactive companionship to guests.
Signing ceremony
The formal plans for this project have already been finalized. The official signing ceremony took place on Sunday. The event was held in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, right on the west artificial island where the hotel will soon stand. During the ceremony, a diverse lineup of Pudu robots showcased their ability to work together seamlessly across various tasks. The machines demonstrated their versatility by welcoming guests, delivering meals and supplies, and clearing away used dishes. Additionally, they proved their practical utility by cleaning public areas and offering interactive customer service.
“This ‘full-scenario’ model means Pudu robots will be deeply involved in every part of hotel operations, with no service gaps and no human interruptions,” stated Guo Cong, CTO and co-founder of Pudu Robotics. According to him, the system will create a full robot-service loop by handling all aspect of the visitor experience, including public area cleaning, intelligent dining services, in-room delivery, and check-in reception.
Smart facilities
In addition to 44 luxurious guest rooms, the hotel will have a restaurant, a fitness center, and other useful spaces. According to Guo, a closed-loop smart service system that integrates dining, cleaning, housekeeping, interaction, and check-in is anticipated to be supported by every area.
Future integration of robots
The project will be implemented in stages, including scenario development, equipment deployment, system integration, and operational optimisation, according to Xiao Han, head of Shenzhen Cultural Tourism Industry Development Co.’s smart tourism section. According to Xiao, the project will keep expanding personalised, immersive technology experiences and improving robot service skills. A fully digitalised chain of services encompassing arrival, sightseeing, lodging, and consuming will be made possible by the smart system’s integration with the west artificial island’s wider tourism ecosystem.
