China is leveraging artificial intelligence and emerging industries to boost employment and create high-quality jobs in 2026. Authorities are developing new professions in the digital economy, high-end manufacturing, and modern services.
In the past five years, 72 new occupations were established, with over 20 directly related to AI, each expected to generate up to 500,000 jobs in early stages. The government also supports labor-intensive sectors, strengthens wage security, and provides startup loans to encourage entrepreneurship.
China is implementing continuous recruitment, job-matching services, and skills development initiatives. Hosting the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai will further highlight the focus on human talent and equip the workforce with practical skills for the future.
