Pakistan is leveraging China-Pakistan cooperation under CPEC 2.0 alongside a $1 billion Artificial Intelligence fund to accelerate its digital economy and future-ready growth.
Dr. Nadeem Javaid, Vice Chancellor of the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE), expressed optimism that the AI fund will strengthen governance reforms, drive innovation, and create opportunities for Pakistan’s youth, who make up 63% of the population.
The programme aims to establish a nationwide technological ecosystem, introducing AI education in federally administered schools, offering 1,000 fully funded PhD scholarships by 2030, and training one million non-IT professionals in AI skills to improve productivity and livelihoods.
Dr. Javaid highlighted that initiatives under CPEC 2.0 align with Pakistan’s Uraan Pakistan programme, promoting exports, affordable energy, efficiency, and environmental sustainability.
