China released its 2026 “No. 1 central document,” outlining comprehensive strategies to modernize agriculture and boost rural development. The plan emphasizes strengthening agriculture, improving farmers’ livelihoods, and integrating urban and rural development.
The document focuses on six key areas: improving agricultural output and quality, providing targeted support, increasing farmer income, building harmonious rural communities, promoting institutional innovation, and reinforcing Party leadership in rural work. It also targets grain and oil production, vegetable quality, and arable land protection.
China aims to consolidate poverty alleviation gains, expand rural employment and consumption, enhance rural infrastructure, and advance modern agricultural management, ensuring sustainable growth and prosperous rural livelihoods.
