The UK Parliament hosted a delegation from Pakistan’s Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) from November 25–27, 2025, led by WPC Secretary Dr Shahida Rehmani. The visit focused on strengthening women’s leadership, inclusive governance, and cross-party collaboration in politics.
During sessions with UK parliamentarians, delegates presented on parliamentary processes, gender-responsive budgeting, online abuse in politics, and evidence-based policymaking. The exchange provided UK lawmakers with a deeper understanding of Pakistan’s initiatives to empower women in political roles.
The visit concluded with the signing of a Joint Communique with Baroness Harriet Harman KC, committing both countries to promote women’s political participation, combat discrimination, and ensure equal access to education and healthcare for women and girls.
Dr Rehmani emphasized that peer-to-peer learning between legislatures strengthens democratic institutions and sets a global example. UK lawmakers praised Pakistan’s progress in women’s political leadership and expressed interest in replicating similar models to support female representation in the UK.
