Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, undertook an official visit to China, during which he held multiple high-level meetings in Beijing with senior Chinese political and military leaders. The visit served to reaffirm the strong and enduring strategic partnership between Pakistan and China.

During the visit, COAS met with Vice President Han Zheng and Foreign Minister Wang Yi of China. Their discussions centered on regional and global political developments, progress on connectivity projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and the importance of joint efforts in addressing shared geopolitical challenges. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the depth of their bilateral cooperation and reiterated mutual support for sovereign equality, multilateralism, and enduring regional peace. The Chinese leadership praised Pakistan’s armed forces for their crucial role in maintaining stability and peace in South Asia.

On the military front, Field Marshal Asim Munir held meetings with General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), General Chen Hui, Political Commissar of the PLA Army, and Lieutenant General Cai Zhai Jun, Chief of Staff of the PLA Army. Upon his arrival at the PLA Army Headquarters, the COAS received a guard of honour, symbolizing the deep-rooted friendship and mutual respect between the two militaries.

These meetings included wide-ranging discussions on defence and security cooperation, covering areas such as counterterrorism, joint military training, modernization initiatives, and strengthening institutional collaboration. Both sides emphasized the need to enhance operational compatibility and strategic coordination to effectively respond to hybrid and transnational threats. Chinese military leaders expressed strong confidence in the bilateral defence partnership and acknowledged Pakistan’s key role in promoting regional stability.

Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed gratitude for China’s steadfast support and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to advancing military cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

The visit highlights the increasing depth of political and military relations between Pakistan and China, reinforcing their shared commitment to regional security through sustained dialogue and close coordination at the highest levels.
