Pakistan’s Under-18 hockey team made the country proud by winning the silver medal at the 2025 U18 Asia Cup hockey tournament, held in Dazhou, China. The young squad displayed impressive skill and resilience, ending their campaign with a tough final on July 13.
The tournament, which took place from July 2 to 13 in Sichuan province, featured 19 men’s and women’s teams from 11 Asian countries and served as a stage for emerging hockey talent across the continent. Pakistan’s path to the final included a thrilling semi-final win over Malaysia, where they triumphed 4-3 in a penalty shootout after a 3-3 draw in regular time. Malaysia later claimed the bronze medal.

Though they narrowly missed the gold, Pakistan’s young players received widespread praise for their teamwork, skill, and determination. Team captain Adeel was named the Rising Player of the Tournament in recognition of his leadership and outstanding performance.
The silver medal is a significant achievement for Pakistan, a country with a rich hockey history that includes four Hockey World Cup titles. The U-18 team’s performance is seen as a sign of revival for the national sport, reigniting hopes of a return to past glory.
Throughout the event, the Pakistani Consulate General in Chengdu actively supported the team, with consular officials present at the final match to encourage and cheer for the young athletes.
