Islamia University of Bahawalpur, IUB, awards CPEC funded split-degree scholarships in Forestry which will be covering all major expenses of twenty students.
In a significant academic achievement, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) announced on Thursday that 20 students from its inaugural BS Forestry program (2024–2028) have received fully funded split-degree scholarships through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) educational partnership.
These scholarships, part of a strategic academic exchange between Chinese and Pakistani institutions, will enable students to spend one academic year at Jiangsu Vocational College of Agriculture and Forestry and Yunnan University in China, while completing the rest of their degree at IUB.
Covering all major expenses (tuition, accommodation, international travel, and daily living costs) the scholarships provide students with access to high-quality education and valuable cross-cultural experiences.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran congratulated the awardees and called the achievement a major milestone in IUB’s efforts to internationalize. He emphasized that the recognition highlights the university’s expanding academic reach and successful global collaborations.
The split-degree initiative is the outcome of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IUB’s Institute of Forest Sciences and its Chinese partner universities, underscoring a shared commitment to advancing academic cooperation under the CPEC framework.
Professor Dr. Tanveer Hussain Turabi, Director of the Institute, and his faculty played a vital role in establishing the collaboration. The Vice-Chancellor commended their efforts and announced that the program would be extended to future batches to enhance students’ global learning exposure.
