33 Pakistani students graduate from China Three Gorges scholarship program

China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) recently organized the CTG-Pakistan relocation scholarship stage acceptance symposium at Jiangxi University of Science and Technology (JUST). This initiative is part of CTG’s commitment to supporting the Belt and Road initiative and the development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The CTG-Pakistan Program aims to provide assistance to Pakistani students, fostering their educational pursuits and contributing to the clean energy sector. The company has sponsored two groups of 33 Pakistani students, enabling them to complete their studies, with 13 of the graduates currently employed at the Karot Hydropower Plant.

Distinguished as the first full scholarship program in Pakistan funded by a Chinese enterprise with long-term planning, CTG has committed to contributing at least USD 1 million to fund up to 100 students through full scholarships. The program, initiated in 2017, follows a ‘2+2’ collaborative education model. The first two years are completed at the University of Punjab, and the subsequent two years are undertaken at JUST.

The scholarship program serves as a testament to CTG’s dedication to fostering educational cooperation between China and Pakistan, aligning with broader goals of enhancing regional connectivity and sustainable development under the Belt and Road initiative. Through such initiatives, CTG not only empowers individual students but also contributes to the human resource development crucial for the clean energy sector, strengthening the bonds of cooperation between the two nations.
