President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the appointment of additional judges to several high courts across Pakistan.
The appointments cover the Lahore High Court, Sindh High Court, Peshawar High Court, Islamabad High Court, and Balochistan High Court.
The President also approved the confirmation of several additional judges as permanent judges. The confirmations apply to judges serving at the Sindh High Court and Lahore High Court.
Judicial Appointments Approved
The latest approvals will add judges to various high courts and strengthen their judicial benches.
Meanwhile, the President approved changes concerning the financial benefits of Supreme Court judges. Their salaries, allowances, and pensions will now be brought at par with those of judges of the Federal Constitutional Court.
Changes to High Court Judges’ Benefits
In addition, President Zardari approved amendments to the 1997 Order concerning the leave, pension, and privileges of High Court judges.
The amendments aim to update the applicable provisions governing these benefits.
Haroon Akhtar Appointed Adviser
Separately, President Zardari approved the appointment of Haroon Akhtar as the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Industries and Production.
The appointment adds another senior official to the federal government’s economic and industrial policy team.
Overall, the decisions cover judicial appointments, judges’ financial benefits, and a key federal government appointment.
