Trilateral talks are underway in Kabul, where Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi are meeting with Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister to discuss counter-terrorism, regional security, and development cooperation.
Pakistan’s Representation
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar is joined by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Afghanistan, Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq, along with senior Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials. He is also holding a bilateral meeting with Afghanistan’s acting foreign minister to review issues of mutual concern.
Focus on Cooperation
According to Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, the talks are centred on strengthening cooperation in trade, connectivity, and counter-terrorism efforts among the three countries. The ongoing dialogue builds on the last round of discussions held in Beijing in May this year.
China’s Role
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Kabul after completing an official visit to New Delhi. He is playing a key role in pushing forward trilateral and regional cooperation.
Islamabad Visit Today
Later this evening, Wang Yi will travel to Islamabad for a two-day official visit. On Thursday, he will co-chair the 6th round of the China-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue, further deepening bilateral ties.
