Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will arrive in Islamabad from August 20 to 22 to attend the Sixth Round of China-Pakistan Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning highlighted that China and Pakistan are “ironclad friends and all-weather strategic cooperative partners,” noting that solid strategic mutual trust and frequent high-level exchanges remain distinctive features of bilateral relations.
During the visit, Wang Yi will hold meetings with Pakistani leadership and engage in comprehensive discussions with Ishaq Dar on strengthening bilateral ties, advancing practical cooperation, and enhancing coordination on regional and international issues.
Mao Ning stressed that this marks Wang Yi’s second visit to Pakistan in three years, following a series of high-level exchanges between leaders of both countries, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s 2023 visit to China and President Asif Ali Zardari’s 2024 state visit.
China hopes the visit will help both nations deepen strategic communication, expand cooperation in multiple sectors, and accelerate the building of a stronger China-Pakistan community with a shared future.
The spokesperson further underlined that China’s partnership with Pakistan does not target any third party. Responding to a question on relations with India and Pakistan, Mao Ning reiterated that both remain important neighbours of China and expressed hope that they will resolve their differences peacefully, with Beijing ready to play a constructive role if needed.
