Three Pakistan Navy Officers Promoted to Rear Admiral

The Directorate General Public Relations (Navy) announced that three Pakistan Navy officers have been promoted to Rear Admiral. DGPR (Navy) Commodore Ahmed Hussain SI(M) has also advanced to Rear Admiral. These promotions mark a significant step in strengthening the Navy’s leadership.

Rear Admiral Muhammad Shahnawaz Khan

Rear Admiral Muhammad Shahnawaz Khan began his career in the Navy’s Supply Branch in 1993. A graduate of the Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore, and the National Defence University, Islamabad, he has held several key command and staff appointments. His roles included Director of Procurement (Navy), Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Education), and Commanding Officer of PNS Raza. Currently, he serves as Director General of Munitions Production at the Ministry of Defence Production.

Rear Admiral Asim Sohail Malik

Rear Admiral Asim Sohail Malik joined the Operations Branch in 1995. He graduated from the Pakistan Navy War College and NDU Islamabad, and later completed advanced courses in Bangladesh and China. He also earned a Master’s degree in Operational Research and Analysis. Throughout his career, he commanded PNS Zarar and PNS Shamsheer, served as Chief of Staff of the Pakistan Fleet, and held multiple senior roles at Naval Headquarters. Furthermore, he commanded Combined Task Force 150 and now serves at NHQ as DGC4I.

Rear Admiral Sohail Azmi

Rear Admiral Sohail Azmi entered the Operations Branch in 1996. He studied at the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth (UK), PN War College, and NDU Islamabad. Over the years, he commanded PNS Nasr, led the 9th Auxiliary Squadron, and headed the Pakistan Naval Academy. He also held important operational planning positions at Naval Headquarters. Internationally, he commanded Combined Task Force 151 in Bahrain. Currently, he serves as Commander Central Punjab and Commandant of the Pakistan Naval War College in Lahore.

Recognition and Additional Promotion

All three officers received the Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) for their distinguished service to the Navy. Meanwhile, Commodore Ahmed Hussain SI(M), DGPR (Navy), has been promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral, adding further strength to the Navy’s senior leadership.
