Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its strong support for Pakistan’s development journey with the launch of three major projects worth $121 million, financed through the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD).
At a signing ceremony on Friday, Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki emphasised Riyadh’s commitment to Pakistan’s progress, noting the Kingdom’s historic, religious, and cultural ties with Islamabad. He said the new projects will deliver essential services, promote economic growth, and improve the lives of local communities.
The agreements cover consultancy services for the King Salman Hospital in Tarlai and the Shounter and Jagran hydropower projects in Azad Jammu & Kashmir. Funding includes a $20 million grant for the hospital and concessional loans of $66 million and $35 million for the hydropower schemes.
Ambassador Al-Malki lauded the enduring partnership between the two nations and extended warm Independence Day greetings to Pakistan, assuring continued Saudi support under the leadership of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Pakistani officials, including Economic Affairs Secretary Dr. Kazim Niaz, expressed gratitude for the Kingdom’s consistent assistance, underscoring Saudi Arabia’s role as a trusted development partner in health, energy, and infrastructure. Dr. Saud Alshammari of SFD highlighted that Saudi Arabia has already extended $533 million in grants and $1.2 billion in concessional loans for development projects across Pakistan.
The newly signed agreements are expected to accelerate healthcare delivery, renewable energy generation, and economic growth while further strengthening Saudi-Pakistan relations.
