Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Chinese Vice Minister Sun Haiyan at the PM House on January 15, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to the One China Policy and highlighting China’s ongoing support, particularly through CPEC projects. The prime minister stressed the urgency of completing the next phase of CPEC on schedule to ensure strategic and economic benefits for Pakistan.
During the meeting, PM Shehbaz highlighted that 2026 is a significant year for Pakistan-China relations, marking 75 years of diplomatic ties. He noted recent visits by Pakistani leaders to China, including the deputy prime minister and the interior minister, with further high-level visits planned, reinforcing strong bilateral cooperation and long-term strategic alignment.
Vice Minister Sun Haiyan expressed appreciation for the warm reception and emphasized China’s commitment to strengthening all aspects of its partnership with Pakistan. The discussions focused on expanding economic collaboration, timely project implementation under CPEC-II, and joint efforts to bolster Pakistan’s infrastructure, trade, and regional connectivity, reflecting a mutually beneficial roadmap for both nations.
