Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has established a 15-member committee, led by the Federal Finance Minister, aimed at improving Pakistan’s economic governance. The initiative seeks to enhance accountability, policy coordination, and oversight across vital sectors.
The committee includes top officials from finance, law, planning, IT, and regulatory bodies such as SECP, SBP, CCP, and PPRA. The additional secretary of finance will serve as secretary, with support from the Ministry of Finance.
This move follows the IMF’s Governance and Corruption Diagnostic Report of November 2025, which highlighted gaps in institutional performance. The committee is expected to submit quarterly progress reports to the Prime Minister, ensuring reforms are monitored and implemented effectively.
