The Bayi Aerobatic Team of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force departed for Thailand on Sunday to take part in celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations.
The team’s international mission includes an airshow featuring seven J-10 aircraft, marking its return to Thailand after a decade and symbolizing the strong ties between the two nations’ air forces.
With support from the YU-20 aerial tanker for mid-air refueling, the aircraft will fly non-stop to Bangkok, covering a distance of over 3,600 kilometers, according to team leader Li Bin.
To ensure a flawless performance, the team conducted site evaluations of the Thai airfield, adjusted their flight strategy to the local conditions, and engaged in specialized training.
This marks the 12th overseas demonstration by the aerobatic team. Established over 60 years ago, the Bayi Aerobatic Team has performed more than 700 times for over 700 delegations from more than 170 countries and regions.
