Pakistan’s Quantum Data Technologies Limited (PSX: QTECH) has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with China’s Guangzhou Great Power Energy & Technology Co., Ltd. to introduce advanced lithium-based battery energy storage systems in Pakistan.
According to a company announcement to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Wednesday, the agreement also provides for the progressive development of local assembly capabilities.
Agreement Targets Multiple Energy Sectors
Under the Strategic Cooperation and Market Development Framework Agreement, the two companies plan to develop energy storage solutions for residential and commercial users, industrial facilities and utility-scale applications.
The proposed collaboration will also target data centres, artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, electric vehicle (EV) battery infrastructure and other energy-intensive sectors.
Battery energy storage systems can help store electricity for later use. They can support power reliability and help manage energy demand across different applications.
China’s Great Power Brings Battery Expertise
Guangzhou Great Power Energy & Technology Co., Ltd. is a Chinese technology company specialising in lithium batteries and energy storage solutions.
The company is listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange under stock code 300438. Its market capitalisation was approximately $4 billion as of October 13, 2026, according to the supplied report.
The partnership aims to combine Great Power’s battery technology expertise with QTECH’s plans to develop energy technology opportunities in Pakistan.
Focus on Pakistan’s Energy and Technology Needs
QTECH said reliable energy supplies and energy security are essential to Pakistan’s technological development.
The company described the agreement as part of its broader strategy to develop innovative technology ventures and create long-term shareholder value.
The planned cooperation could support energy storage applications in sectors with significant electricity needs, including data centres, AI infrastructure and industrial facilities. However, the agreement outlines plans for cooperation and local assembly; it does not establish that domestic production has already begun.
The initiative adds to efforts to develop Pakistan’s energy technology capabilities and explore new opportunities for industrial cooperation with China.
