Pakistan is looking to expand its textile exports through the BRICS Plus platform, aiming to strengthen trade ties with emerging economies in Central Asia, Russia, and beyond. This initiative reflects Pakistan’s textile export strategy under BRICS Plus, designed to promote sustainable growth and reduce reliance on Western markets.

According to industry sources, the recent BRICS Plus summit, endorsed by more than 50 leading global fashion weeks, provided Pakistan with a platform to showcase its craftsmanship and textile innovation to new markets. The event’s success has been welcomed by the Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA), which described it as an opportunity to reposition Pakistan as a supplier to non-traditional destinations.

Representatives from the textile sector said the Pakistan textile exports BRICS Plus framework could serve as a bridge for economic and cultural exchange, allowing Pakistan to diversify its buyer base and achieve long-term market stability.

The summit also led to the creation of the BRICS International Fashion Federation (BRICS IFF), an alliance focused on promoting collaboration, sustainability, and innovation in the global fashion industry through technology and design exchange.

Data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics shows that textile exports reached $17.88 billion in FY2024-25, with nearly two-thirds directed to the United States and the European Union. Industry experts believe tapping into BRICS Plus markets could strengthen Pakistan’s export resilience and help offset global demand fluctuations.

Analysts highlighted that Pakistan’s strategic location allows it to act as a trade corridor connecting South Asia, Central Asia, and Europe. They recommended initiatives such as forming a Pak Russia Business Council under the BRICS Plus framework, easing banking procedures for exporters, and improving visa facilitation to enhance trade efficiency.

Participants at the summit also pointed to the growing importance of Fashion Tech, including 3D design, smart textiles, and virtual fitting tools. They noted that adopting advanced technologies could help Pakistan improve productivity, cut costs, and align with global sustainability standards promoted by organizations like the World Trade Organization.

Experts concluded that focusing on innovation, diversification, and Pakistan textile exports BRICS Plus collaboration could help the country achieve its long-standing goal of $25 billion in annual textile exports.
