Pakistan on Sunday presented a sweeping set of proposals at the preparatory ministerial meeting of the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha, urging decisive action against Israel’s aggression.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar condemned the “illegal and unprovoked” Israeli strikes on Qatar, describing them as a reckless assault on sovereignty, diplomacy, and international law. He warned that Israel’s repeated violations reflected a “rogue mindset” that posed a grave threat to global peace and stability.
Outlining Pakistan’s seven-point plan, Dar called for Israel’s accountability for war crimes, suspension of its UN membership, and the formation of an Arab-Islamic task force to counter further aggression. Other measures included coordinated punitive steps by member states, a UN Security Council-mandated permanent ceasefire with prisoner exchanges, humanitarian access to Gaza, and reviving a genuine political process for a two-state solution.
Dar highlighted Qatar’s central role in mediation alongside Egypt and the US, stressing that the attack on Doha was also an attack on diplomacy itself. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with Qatar and its right to defend sovereignty.
Pakistan, as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, has already joined efforts to convene emergency sessions at both the UNSC and the UN Human Rights Council. Dar emphasised that Islamabad will continue working with the OIC, Arab, and Islamic partners to mobilise international enforcement measures, including an international protection force for Gaza.
On the sidelines, Dar met his Egyptian counterpart, Dr. Badr Abdelatty and Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato’ Seri Mohamad Hasan. Both sides strongly condemned Israeli strikes on Qatar and other Muslim nations, reaffirmed unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, and underscored the need for unity across the Muslim Ummah.
The Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, co-convened by Qatar, Pakistan, and other Islamic countries, will be held in Doha on Monday with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in attendance. The summit will finalise a joint plan of action in response to Israeli aggression.
