Pakistan and Japan held the 8th Government–Business Joint Dialogue and Pakistan Business Forum in Tokyo on January 17, 2026. Co-chaired by PM Shehbaz Sharif’s aide on commerce Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan and Japan’s parliamentary vice-minister Takuo Komori, the meeting aimed to strengthen bilateral trade, investment, and sectoral cooperation.
The Pakistani delegation highlighted opportunities in minerals and mining, agricultural and agri-food products, and the information technology sector. The Japanese side shared insights on improving the business environment for companies operating in Pakistan and explored areas for enhanced collaboration.
The dialogue reaffirmed the importance of sustained engagement between government and private sectors. Both countries agreed to continue building trust and long-term partnerships, while promoting practical cooperation to advance trade, investment, and joint value chains in strategic sectors.
