Pakistan is expanding engagement across the Middle East, Central Asia and ASEAN as part of a recalibrated foreign policy amid shifting global dynamics. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said the outreach focuses on strengthening strategic partnerships while safeguarding national interests.
Speaking at the Pakistan Governance Forum 2026 in Islamabad, Dar emphasized that economic diplomacy and climate cooperation are central pillars of the country’s international strategy. Pakistan has intensified ties with Gulf countries to promote trade, investment and energy collaboration, while also seeking broader global partnerships.
Pakistan’s current term on the United Nations Security Council is expected to amplify its diplomatic role. Officials say Islamabad will advocate peaceful conflict resolution, civilian protection and support for a two-state solution for Palestine, positioning itself as an active voice on major international issues.
