Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, is currently on an official visit to Egypt for the 3rd round of Defence and Security Talks, where he held high-level meetings with the top political, military, and religious leadership of the country.
During the visit, General Mirza called on Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and met with key officials, including General Abdel Mageed Saqr, Minister of Defence and Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces; Admiral Osama Mounier Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority; and Professor Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar.
The engagements revolved around enhancing military-to-military cooperation, regional security, counter-terrorism, and joint efforts to expand bilateral defence ties through training and joint exercises. Both sides expressed strong intent to deepen collaboration across various defence and security domains.
In his interaction with the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, General Mirza emphasized the significance of religious tolerance and interfaith harmony as tools to counter extremism and foster inclusive societies. The message resonated with Egyptian religious leadership.
Earlier, on arrival at the Ministry of Defence, General Mirza was presented a Guard of Honour by a well-turned-out contingent of the Egyptian Armed Forces.
The Egyptian leadership praised the professionalism and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces in combating terrorism, reiterating their admiration for Pakistan’s commitment to global peace and stability.
