During his visit, the army chief held meetings with Egyptian Minister of Defence and Defence Production General Abdul Maged Saqar and Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa Fatehi. Discussions focused on regional security, mutual interests, and avenues to expand bilateral defence collaboration.
Field Marshal Munir reaffirmed that Egypt is a brotherly country, adding that stronger cooperation between both states will not only benefit their people but also contribute to peace and stability in the broader region.
At the Ministry of Defence, he was accorded a warm welcome and presented with a Guard of Honour. The COAS also laid a floral wreath at the Memorial of the Unknown Soldier and the grave of former Egyptian President Mohamed Anwar Al-Sadat.
Later, Field Marshal Munir met the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Sheikh Ahmed El Tayeb, at Mashaikhat Al Azhar Al Sharif. The Grand Imam discussed challenges confronting the Muslim Ummah, while the COAS highlighted the importance of eliminating extremist ideologies and misinterpretations of Islam.
The visit underscores Pakistan’s commitment to deepening its defence partnership with Egypt, following recent bilateral engagements aimed at strengthening cooperation in maritime, industrial, and security sectors.
