Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif reaffirmed on Friday that Pakistan would firmly support Qatar in any challenging time, underscoring Islamabad’s enduring commitment to its Gulf allies.
Speaking in a television interview, the minister emphasised Pakistan’s strong diplomatic relations not only with Gulf and Middle Eastern nations but also with the European Union (EU), China, the United States, Russia, and other global partners. He noted that Pakistan values its diverse partnerships and remains committed to maintaining balance in its foreign policy.
Referring to the upcoming Arab-Islamic summit, Asif confirmed that Pakistan’s leadership will actively participate. He observed that global dynamics are rapidly changing, urging Muslim and brotherly nations to recognise the ongoing shift in power centres and adapt accordingly.
On internal security, the minister acknowledged Pakistan’s sacrifices in combating terrorism, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He reiterated the state’s commitment to eliminating extremism and protecting its citizens.
