Pakistan and China’s economic partnership was further strengthened with the signing of three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in Urumqi. The agreements, covering livestock, textiles, and advanced emergency services, were witnessed by President Asif Ali Zardari along with senior Pakistani and Chinese officials.
The first MoU was signed between Loyang Modern Biotechnologies and the Sindh government, represented by Minister Nasir Shah. Under this agreement, Pakistan’s livestock sector is set to be modernised. By introducing advanced practices, food security will be improved and rural employment opportunities will be generated, directly benefiting farming communities.
Meanwhile, a second agreement was inked between Beijing Asian Africa Longyue and ASM Services. Through this MoU, a modern textile industrial park will be developed in Pakistan. As a result, industrial growth is expected to accelerate, textile exports are projected to increase, and new opportunities for businesses and workers will be created.
The third MoU was concluded between Sichuan Chuanxiao Fire Trucks Manufacturing Company and ASM Services. This framework of cooperation covers supply, distribution, sales, and after-sales services of fire trucks and advanced emergency equipment. With this step, Pakistan’s disaster response and emergency management capacity will be significantly enhanced.
President Zardari emphasised that these agreements represent a new chapter in Pakistan-China cooperation. He noted that modernising livestock would ensure food security and rural job creation, the textile park would strengthen exports and industrial development, while emergency equipment cooperation would safeguard communities and improve resilience.
By signing these MoUs, Pakistan and China have reinforced their long-standing partnership, with concrete projects now aligned to directly support economic progress and public welfare.
