Pakistan and China have successfully concluded the Sea Guardian IV naval exercise, marking another step forward in strengthening maritime cooperation and regional stability. The joint drills between the Pakistan Navy and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy showcased advanced operational coordination in the Arabian Sea.
The exercise began with a five-day port visit in Karachi, followed by two days of intensive sea operations in the North Arabian Sea. During the port phase, the Chinese naval ship DAQING received a warm welcome from PNS TAIMUR, reflecting strong bilateral ties between the two nations.
Naval personnel from both countries engaged in professional exchanges, including ship visits, orientation sessions at naval facilities, and detailed discussions on maritime security challenges. A key highlight of this phase was the first-ever Young Officers Seminar, aimed at fostering leadership and knowledge sharing among future naval leaders.

At sea, the exercise moved into a more operational phase. Both navies conducted a variety of complex drills designed to enhance combat readiness and interoperability. These included air defense exercises against multi-directional threats, submarine-assisted operations, and conventional naval warfare training.
Live gunnery drills were also carried out, demonstrating precision, coordination, and the ability to respond effectively to real-world maritime threats. These exercises are critical for ensuring preparedness in an increasingly complex security environment.
The Sea Guardian IV exercise concluded with a joint patrol in the Arabian Sea. This final activity symbolized the shared commitment of Pakistan and China to maintaining peace, security, and stability in the region.
Overall, the exercise not only strengthened defense cooperation but also reinforced the strategic partnership between the two countries. As maritime challenges continue to evolve, such joint initiatives play a vital role in promoting collective security and safeguarding international waters.
