Pakistan’s honey sector may soon see a major transformation as the Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry expressed strong interest in expanding exports to China through improved certification and processing standards. Officials say Pakistani honey is high quality but undervalued in international markets due to the lack of globally recognized testing and packaging systems.
Industry representatives noted that with proper certification and modern facilities, export prices could rise dramatically, opening doors to premium markets. Chinese companies have shown willingness to share advanced technologies such as filtration, sterilization, and temperature control to help Pakistan meet strict import requirements.
Data cited from National Bank of Pakistan shows Pakistan has already exported millions of dollars’ worth of honey in past years, mainly to Middle Eastern countries. Stakeholders believe that with Chinese cooperation, production capacity and export value could increase significantly, turning honey into a strong contributor to Pakistan’s agricultural exports.
