Preparations are in full swing across Pakistan for the grand Independence Day and Marka-e-Haq victory celebrations, with a major public event scheduled at Shakarparian Parade Ground on Thursday. The venue will open its gates to citizens at 10 a.m., offering a rare opportunity to witness an extensive display of Pakistan’s Armed Forces’ defence capabilities.
The exhibition will showcase a wide range of equipment used during Marka-e-Haq, including tanks, aircraft, artillery, rocket launchers, military vehicles, and armoured carriers. Radars that played a pivotal role in the battle will also be on display. Visitors can also enjoy a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fly-past and para-jumping demonstration, while military bands perform patriotic tunes.
Alongside the exhibition, a grand ceremony will be held at Jinnah Sports Stadium in Islamabad today (Wednesday), with President Asif Ali Zardari as the chief guest. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the heads of the three armed forces, and foreign dignitaries will also attend. Highlights include a parade by the armed forces, cultural performances, and participation from military contingents of Türkiye and Azerbaijan. The Prime Minister will also unveil the Marka-e-Haq Monument during the ceremony.
These celebrations aim to honour the nation’s historic victories and provide citizens a chance to connect with the country’s military heritage while marking Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day memorably.
