The University of Gwadar (UoG) has approved Chinese Language as an Arts and Humanities course in its Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programmes. The move aims to equip future teachers with skills for emerging regional and international opportunities.
The university’s Department of Education approved the course during its 6th Board of Studies meeting. Dr. Rabia Aslam chaired the meeting held at the PCT&VI Conference Room.
Chinese Language Education Gains Importance
The addition of Chinese Language will broaden students’ academic and cultural knowledge. It will also improve their linguistic and intercultural skills.
As Pakistan and China deepen cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Chinese language skills are becoming increasingly valuable. Graduates can use these skills in education, business, cultural exchange, and regional development.
University Also Introduces Artificial Intelligence
Alongside Chinese Language, the Board approved Artificial Intelligence as an interdisciplinary course for B.Ed. programmes.
The new AI course aims to prepare future educators for changes in the education sector. It will also help students develop knowledge relevant to modern teaching environments.
Board Approves Academic Reforms
The Board reviewed several academic and curriculum-related matters during the meeting. Members approved professional certification requirements for B.Ed. students.
In addition, they approved policies for students returning after a semester freeze. The Board also made internships mandatory for relevant programmes.
Furthermore, members revised selected course syllabi to better reflect current educational and professional needs.
