The Pakistan-China Friendship Association (PCFA) Lahore was formally established on August 20. Founding members held their first meeting at the University of Central Punjab (UCP) in Lahore.
The new association aims to strengthen people-to-people ties between Pakistan and China. It will create opportunities for cooperation in education, culture, business, and social activities.
Promoting Education and Cultural Exchanges
PCFA Lahore plans to organize seminars, conferences, exhibitions, and cultural festivals. It will also arrange language programs to encourage greater understanding between the two countries.
In addition, the association will facilitate cooperation among universities, think tanks, businesses, and civil society organizations.
These initiatives aim to build stronger institutional and social connections between Pakistan and China.
Alumni Chapter to Connect Pakistani Graduates
A key initiative will be the establishment of an Alumni Chapter for Pakistanis who studied at Chinese educational institutions.
The chapter will provide former students with a platform to stay connected. Moreover, it will encourage alumni to contribute to stronger Pakistan-China relations.
Pakistani and Chinese Members Join Association
The founding members represent diverse sections of Pakistani society. They include university deans, government officials, hospital directors, poets, business representatives, and educators.
Chinese members also joined the founding group. They include representatives of Chinese companies operating in Pakistan, Chinese language schools, and the Lahore Overseas Chinese Association.
Dr. Khalid Manzoor Butt Elected President
Professor Dr. Khalid Manzoor Butt was elected as the association’s first president. He serves as Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Languages and Literature at UCP Lahore.
Dr. Butt has previously supported educational cooperation between Pakistan and China. He also received the Friendship Award 2023 from the Chinese Consulate General in Lahore.
Strengthening Pakistan-China People-to-People Ties
The establishment of PCFA Lahore adds another platform for bilateral engagement. It will focus on practical exchanges across education, culture, business, and community activities.
Furthermore, its planned programs can help connect institutions, professionals, students, and Chinese communities in Pakistan.
As a result, the association is expected to contribute to deeper people-to-people relations and broader Pakistan-China cooperation.
