A new polio vaccination campaign has started in Gwadar under the National Immunization Day (NID) initiative. The drive aims to protect thousands of children from polio.
Nakeebullah Kakar officially launched the campaign by administering polio drops to a child during a ceremony attended by health officials.
Target to Vaccinate Over 35,000 Children
The campaign will vaccinate 35,664 children under the age of five. In addition, health teams will distribute Vitamin A supplements to children aged six months to five years.
Moreover, officials said the supplements will help strengthen immunity and improve overall child health.
Door-to-Door Vaccination Strategy
Health authorities have deployed mobile teams across the district. These teams will conduct door-to-door visits to ensure full coverage.
As a result, even children in remote and underserved areas will receive vaccinations. Officials stressed that maximum outreach remains a top priority.
Strong Monitoring and Accountability
The deputy commissioner reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to eradicating polio. He also urged parents to cooperate with vaccination teams.
Furthermore, he warned that negligence by staff will not be tolerated. Strict accountability measures have been introduced to ensure transparency and efficiency.
Towards a Polio-Free Gwadar
Health officials confirmed that monitoring systems will track field performance in real time. This will help identify and fix operational gaps quickly.
Overall, the campaign marks an important step toward a polio-free future for Gwadar and supports national eradication efforts across Pakistan.
