A major solar streetlighting public welfare project, sponsored by the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Karachi, was successfully completed in Gwadar on June 12. This initiative introduced modern solar streetlights to vital intersections, primary roadways, coastal recreation areas, and healthcare facilities throughout the city.
Transformative Impact on Gwadar
The new lighting enhanced Gwadar’s nighttime aesthetic, creating a brighter environment while improving safety and convenience for local residents. The installation covered Mullah Fazil Chowk, Ghalla Mandi, Gazrawan, Baloch Ward, and from B&R Road to Shaheen Chowk. Furthermore, authorities illuminated Fish Harbor Road, Padi Zar Beach, the District Headquarters Hospital, and the GDA Indus Hospital.
Gwadar’s development
Gwadar Mayor Majid Johar praised the project and thanked the Chinese Consul General in Karachi. He commended China’s continuous support for the city’s development and hoped to expand the project to more areas. Local residents also welcomed the initiative, calling it a valuable collective gift from China.
This streetlighting project reflects a long-term effort by the Chinese Consulate General and Embassy to support the city’s development. Over the past few years, officials have implemented scholarships, distributed essential daily commodities, and launched other social development programs.
