International Dispute Resolution Institute (IDI), Pakistan, signed a memorandum of understanding with Karamay Arbitration Commission (KAC) to expand cooperation in legal and arbitration sectors.
Focus on Arbitration and Legal Development
Under the agreement, both institutions will work on institutional arbitration development, training initiatives, and professional exchange programs. In addition, they will promote Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms across Pakistan–China legal and economic engagement.
Support for Cross-Border Dispute Resolution
According to representatives of IDI, the partnership aims to strengthen modern arbitration practices and improve legal innovation. Moreover, the initiative seeks to enhance dispute resolution mechanisms for cross-border commercial activities.
Expanding Regional Legal Collaboration
Khalid Taimur Akram stated that the agreement marks another step in IDI’s growing engagement with institutions across China and Central Asia. As a result, both organizations expect stronger institutional coordination and wider legal cooperation.

Role of Karamay Arbitration Commission
The Karamay Arbitration Commission handles civil and commercial disputes through legally binding arbitration. Its work mainly covers trade, investment, construction, and energy-related cases, especially those connected to Karamay’s industrial and energy sectors.
Strategic Importance of Regional Connectivity
Furthermore, KAC continues to expand international cooperation across Eurasia. Since Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region borders multiple countries, including Pakistan, the commission increasingly supports dispute resolution linked to regional trade and Belt and Road cooperation.
