The Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) has issued new guidelines under CGO 05/2026 to regulate Gwadar Iran transit trade. The framework outlines procedures and facilities for transporting cargo from Gwadar Port to Iran through the Gabd–Rimdan border crossing under customs supervision.
Gwadar Iran Transit Trade to Improve Connectivity
According to the guideline, the route between Gwadar Port and the Gabd border covers approximately 87 kilometers, making it the shortest overland corridor for cargo transport to Iran.
In addition, authorities stated that all cargo movement will follow legal, documentary, and customs requirements to ensure efficient operations.
Customs Facilities Under Gwadar Iran Transit Trade
Chairman of Gwadar Port, Noor-ul-Haq Baloch, said several customs facilitation options will support cargo movement.
These include TIR Carnet, Transit Goods Declaration (GD) with Security, and Cross-Stuff procedures. Moreover, these mechanisms aim to streamline transit operations and reduce trade barriers.
Business Opportunities Through Gwadar Iran Transit Trade
The initiative is expected to create opportunities for traders, importers, transport operators, customs clearing agents, and logistics providers.
Furthermore, warehousing and supply chain businesses may benefit from increased commercial activity linked to transit services.
Gwadar’s Regional Trade Role Expands
According to the chairman, the main objective is to strengthen commercial activity at Gwadar Port and deepen trade connectivity between Pakistan and Iran.
As a result, Gwadar Iran transit trade is expected to reinforce Gwadar’s position as a regional transit and logistics hub connecting broader markets.
