The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Thursday approved a series of financial and development measures to support key sectors in Pakistan, following signs of moderating inflation. Chaired by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, the meeting reviewed the economic situation and confirmed additional funding for education, energy, housing, tourism, and defence-linked projects.
The ECC approved Rs. 5.76 billion for the Federal Education and Professional Training Division to establish Danish Schools across Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Balochistan, alongside the Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Program. Rs. 5.19 billion was allocated to the Ministry of Housing and Works for development schemes in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the SDGs Achievement Program.
Additionally, Rs. 170.4 million was cleared for the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation to strengthen governance, staffing, and alignment with the national tourism strategy. The committee also approved Rs. 6.358 billion for power-related SDG schemes and Rs. 200 billion in equity for distribution companies (DISCOs) to ease cash-flow issues.
