The National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China’s highest political advisory body, held a symposium on Friday to review the country’s macroeconomic performance for the first half of the year.
Wang Huning, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and a member of the CPC Central Committee’s Political Bureau Standing Committee, attended the event and delivered remarks on the subject.
He noted that despite a challenging global environment and growing uncertainties, China’s economy has remained on a steady growth trajectory since the start of the year.
Wang emphasized the importance of aligning efforts with the goals of the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan, promoting high-quality productivity suited to regional realities, stimulating domestic consumption, and advancing the goal of common prosperity.
He also urged political advisors to actively deliberate and provide constructive recommendations to support the implementation of key policies and initiatives.
During the session, around 13 political advisors shared their insights on various issues, including stabilizing financial markets, encouraging technological progress among private firms, and promoting artificial intelligence development.
The symposium was chaired by Wang Yong, vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee.
