Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, visited Turbat on Saturday to review the prevailing security situation, assess development initiatives, and reinforce civil-military coordination for the stability and prosperity of Balochistan. He was received by Corps Commander Balochistan upon arrival.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief was briefed on the province’s security dynamics, including threat perspectives, successful operations against Fitna al Hindustan, and ongoing socio-economic development efforts in southern Balochistan.
Field Marshal Munir interacted with Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, the Chief Secretary, and civil administration representatives. He emphasised the importance of good governance, infrastructure development, and inclusive, people-centric progress, stressing that joint civil-military efforts were vital to addressing the region’s challenges.
“The Pakistan Army stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of Balochistan in their pursuit of peace, prosperity, and sustainable development,” he affirmed.
During his visit, COAS also met with deployed troops, commending their high morale, operational readiness, and steadfast commitment to defending national sovereignty. He hailed their efforts in ensuring peace and stability in the province despite difficult circumstances.
The army chief’s visit comes as both federal and provincial governments push development as a top priority for Balochistan. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has repeatedly underlined the province’s significance, while the Balochistan government has allocated Rs249.50 billion for its Annual Development Plan 2025–26. Several projects under public-private partnerships and new security measures have also been approved to strengthen governance and uplift communities.
Field Marshal Munir has earlier linked economic security with national security, pledging a robust framework to safeguard investor confidence and advance Pakistan’s mineral and resource potential in Balochistan.
