Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), visited the flood-affected areas of Kasur and Jalalpur Pirwala, Multan, to review the prevailing situation and oversee ongoing relief operations. The visit underscored the need for enhanced synergy between civil administration and military forces to ensure effective assistance for impacted communities.
During the visit, the Army Chief was briefed in detail about the extent of the damage, ongoing rescue missions, and relief activities. He stressed that Pakistan cannot afford to lose lives and property year after year due to recurring floods. Asim Munir called for inclusive, people-centric progress, strong governance, and fast-tracked infrastructural development to mitigate future disasters.
COAS personally met with displaced families who were successfully evacuated by the Army and civil administration. He assured them of continued support in rehabilitation and resettlement, while the affectedees expressed gratitude for timely intervention during the crisis.
The Army Chief also interacted with troops, Rescue 1122, and police officials engaged in relief work, praising their dedication, high morale, and round-the-clock service under difficult conditions. He emphasised the importance of coordinated efforts to alleviate the suffering of affected populations.
Later, COAS carried out an aerial reconnaissance of the flood-hit zones along the Lahore–Kasur and Multan–Jalalpur Pirwala axes to personally assess the damage and relief progress. He reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s unwavering commitment to public welfare and disaster response.
