Chinese President Xi Jinping said Wednesday that China and Russia should advance the development and renewal of both nations through a higher level of comprehensive strategic coordination. Xi noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination and the 25th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation.
40 agreements signed:
Both the countries have signed over 40 documents including but not limited to economy, energy, transport, and international cooperation. 22 documents were signed at a special ceremony of Xi-Putin talks, while 20 others were signed at the sidelines of presidential summit. Both the leaders reaffirmed their mutual agreement to form a multipolar world relations.
Economic cooperation:
Putin expressed contentment that both the countries have built a stable system of bilateral trade protected from external shocks. He explained that using rubles and yuan for trade helps protect economic cooperation from “external influence” and supports more stable and sustainable commercial relations between the two countries. “The international situation is fluid and turbulent, and that unilateralism and hegemonism are resurging, yet peace, development and cooperation remain the aspiration of the people and the prevailing trend of our times,” Putin noted.
Exchanging views on world politics
Being the 2 permanent members of UNSC, both the countries play a major role in world politics. The Russia China relations serve as a stabilizing force amid shifting geopolitical dynamics. Xi emphasized that political mutual trust has continued to deepen, cooperation in areas including trade, investment, energy, science and technology, people-to-people exchanges, and local-level engagement has steadily progressed.
Both the leaders emphasized that efforts should be made to promote long-term development and cooperation. Putin asserted that Russia China relations have reached an unprecedented level and will continue to flourish in the coming years.
